Isn't the liposuction dangerous?

We do the liposuction using local anesthesia that infiltrates tumescent solution into the adipose layer while under conscious sedation. There is no risk of excessive usage of anesthetic and we do not do excessive liposuction in order to avoid danger to patients. Also, there is no risk of complications from a long operation time since the operation time is short owing to Two Doc liposuction and having lots of experience about liposuction surgery. We emphasize patient and customer's safety with the top priority rather than beauty itself so that there is no need to worry.

Isn't it painful?

The operation is undergone under conscious sedation as well as tumescent local anesthesia so that it is almost painless. If it is undergone only with tumescent local anesthetic, it can cause some discomfort while injecting the anesthetic. If it is undergone under general anesthesia, it can cause dangers, so this method is selected.

When can I be back to normal life?

Since the local anesthetic with tumescent fluid remains in the adipose tissue after the operation, there follows little pain immediately after the operation. Therefore, normal activities are possible except extreme physical activities. Also, 24 hours after the operation when the fluid in the adipose tissue has somewhat drained, you may go back to work.

 

Immediately after the operation, you had better take a rest in bed. After a while, you may walk around. 1 day after the operation, you may maintain normal life including driving or walking around. 3~4 days after the operation, you may do mild exercise but you are not allowed to do such exercises as jogging or tennis till 2~3 weeks after the operation. You may increase the exercise intensity gradually. It depends on the operation, however, it takes 1~3 days to be back to work.

 

3 days after the operation, you may take a shower, however, you should avoid taking a bath or swimming till 3~4 weeks after the operation. 1 month after the operation, you may do normal activities and exercises.

 

It takes about 5~6 months for complete recovery from liposuction and stabilized adipose tissue.

Does the skin keep its smoothness after the operation?

If you undergo the tumescent technique liposuction, you may examine the effectiveness of your body shape correction immediately after the operation. However, there follows some rugged regions as the adipose layer becomes harder, which is formed by the adipose layer, but it will disappear within 2~3 months.
We, Venus Clinic, use liposuction done by hand, using a microcannula, so there is almost no risk of unsmoothness.

In case there happens unfavorable outcomes, it is possible to correct with a simple procedure from 5 months after the operation, therefore, there is no need to worry.

How much weight can I lose after the operation?

The purpose of liposuction is not the weight loss but the body shape correction, however, it has the effectiveness of weight loss somewhat. However, immediately after the operation, due to tumescent anesthetic and edema, there could follow an increase of weight. 2~4 weeks after the operation when the edema is alleviated, you may find that there is weight loss of as much as 1/2 or 2/3 of removed fat.

Don't I gain fat after the operation?

Liposuction is the operation that removes the thick adipose layer so there will be no yoyo phenomenon on that site.
However, if you do not manage your weight after the liposuction, the remaining adipose layer can gain fat again. If you manage your body weight well, there is no yoyo phenomenon, hence, we can say that you would not gain fat after the liposuction. Therefore, it is necessary to be cautious about weight control for the long-term operation effects.

How much liposuction can I undergo in a day?

  It depends on patient's body weight or body shape, however, in general, the maximum limit for safe liposuction is between 3000ml and 4000ml. This amount is the abdominal region and flank at the same time or thigh of 70~80kg female patients. It takes about 1 hour for Venus Clinic, when applying Two Doc liposuction, to remove this amount.

Also, it is also possible to undergo 7000cc of pure fat removal or over within 1 and half hours and 2 and half hours, which is called megaliposuction. Using the two-docter system, this operation is shorter than the conventional liposuction operation time, therefore it is very safe. Venus Clinic has the know-how about this, however, it is believed that megaliposuction has the risk of complications so it requires delicate attention and postoperative management.

 

How long does it take for the operation?

In general, Tumescent liposuction takes about 2~3 hours with using macrosuction cannula. It takes about 3~4 hours with microcannula. We, Venus Clinic, apply the TwoDoc liposuction, ( a dual system of  operation by two experienced surgeons) and it takes only between 40minutes and 1 and half hours regardless of the body parts. Also, it is done under conscious sedation during the short operation time, which is safe and painless.

What is the difference between other liposuction options?

There have been various liposuction methods introduced such as laser assisted liposuction, water jet liposuction and ultrasound assisted liposuction in the magazines, newspapers and internet. These surgical techniques are mostly named after the equipments that are used for the liposuction. The common points of these equipments focus on how well to extract the fat. However, the satisfaction after the liposuction is determined by the remaining amount and distribution of fat so that it cannot be said these techniques guarantee the favorable outcomes. It is believed that the results of the operation ultimately depends on 'Mind and Experience' of the surgeon.

 

How is the scar after the operation?

In general, the number of scars after liposuction is 2~4, which are very small in hidden areas. Mostly the scars can be made on the underwear area, wrinkle of skin, existing scars and the area that can be covered with a swimming suit. Depending on one's constitution, the scar can be rather dark on dark skin, but as time goes by, it can become almost invisible.

We know that Korean women are very sensitive with scars so that we make the incision minimally and minimize surgical trauma, trying not to leave a scar. If the scar is severely discolored, you may apply whitening cream, and it is also possible to remove it with surgical treatment, so there is no need to worry.

Which season is better to undergo the operation, summer or winter?

In general, it is believed that winter is the better season to undergo the operation since it helps the prevention of infection compared with summer.

Most patients tend to avoid exposing the affected region when they go out. However, liposuction leaves a very small scar after the operation and owing to the sterilization effect of tumescent anesthetic, there is little risk of infection. Therefore, you do not need to worry about the seasonal condition and it is better to pick your own convenient schedule regardless of seasons.

Why does it require two doctors?

 Liposuction is physically exhausting surgery. The longer operation time, the more exhausting and lower concentration and this reflects the surgical outcomes. Certainly, some people might be concerned about the unbalanced surgical outcomes. Isn't conscious sedation dangerous?

The local anesthesia is safe but it can be rather uncomfortable to be awake during the operation. On the other hand, general anesthesia itself has the risk of complication and can cause incurable complications such as phlebothrombosis, so it is inappropriate for cosmetic surgery. We do the operation under conscious sedation, which has no discomfort or inconvenience from using local anesthesia during the operation. Also, the patient becomes insensitive to pain and it has no risk in itself. In addition to this, under the dual system of two doctors, the operation does not take long so that the injection amount is less than other surgical methods. Besides, it is undergone by two experienced doctors and an anesthesiologist is always available so it is very safe.
